Health and Safety Policy Statement
Double D Construction aims not simply to comply with Health and Safety legislation but to attain higher standards through the adoption of recognised good practices and to provide industry leadership through our Health and Safety performance. We are fully committed to achieving this through a programme of continuous improvement, positively promoting a proactive approach to accident and ill-health prevention.
Double D Construction recognises that the principal means for adequate accident prevention is the development of a safe system of work. The Company has therefore produced systems and procedures for designing safe systems of work for all aspects of its principal activities which have been identified as high risk. All levels of management and operational staff are required to comply with the Company's safety rules and procedures and to contribute to their further development.
Double D Construction also recognises that co-operation and consultation at all levels is essential in promoting a positive Health and Safety culture and the Company has developed systems for both formal and collaborative communication on Health and Safety matters. In order to achieve the above principles the Company has put in place the appropriate resources and developed in-house systems to achieve the following aims:
- To monitor new developments and existing compliance with all relevant legislation, approved codes of practice and the Safety Policy as a minimum and to continually improve the performance standards specified.
- To make Health and Safety an integral part of the management of the Company.
- To provide premises, plant, substances at work and places of work that are safe and without risk to health and safety, and without risks to the welfare of all the Company's employees.
- To carry out our operations with due regard for the health and safety of non-employees, and to provide them with prescribed information regarding those operations which may affect their health and safety.
- To ensure employees: take reasonable care for their own and others' safety; are competent; and appropriately trained to meet individual responsibilities and needs.
- To involve and consult with employees and where appropriate their representatives to effectively communicate with them on health and safety matters.
- To sustain and develop this Policy by the implementation of an accredited health and safety management system.
- To review the Safety Policy on an annual basis and implement appropriate improvements.
To bring changes to the Safety Policy to the attention of all employees.
Double D Construction Health & Safety Statement of Intent
Double D Construction support the fundamental business goal of achieving high standards of performance in safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of our employees, in minimising the risk of our activities to the public, in minimising our impact on the environment and in full compliance with all legislation.
Double D Construction is committed to compliance with applicable legal requirements and with other requirements which the organisation subscribes which relate to its environmental aspects, the achievement of continual improvement and prevention of pollution.
Particular emphasis will be given to significant environmental aspects such as fuel storage, waste management the protection of wildlife and habitats and the protection of controlled waters. We endeavour to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and reduce, as far as practicable, the effects of noise, dust, disturbance and inconvenience to others.
We continually strive to improve standards throughout our areas of operations by enhancing environmental awareness and commitment amongst our employees through structured training, and encouraging the adoption of sound environmental principles amongst sub-contractors and customers alike.
Our policy is communicated to all employees, sub-contractors and other personnel working on behalf of the Company, and provides a strategic business tool in line with our corporate philosophy to become number one choice as Utility Contractor.
The profile of environmental issues is being continually raised, both in the commercial and public domain. For that reason, Double D Construction is keen to ensure the impact from their operations is kept to a minimum. This could be as simple as using silenced generators or hand digging around tree routes to something as complex as re-scheduling works programmes to avoid bird breeding seasons.
Regular inspections of all sites ensure a top standard of environmental management is achieved at all locations around the country. However, what we also recognise is that each project is unique and requires experience, flexibility and expertise in order to identify any potential problems and devise safe, effective solutions.
- We regard good safety and health as an integral part of being a successful business; it is of great importance to us that we care for the safety, health and well-being of our employees and others affected by our activities.
- Our approach to managing health and safety is structured and risk-based.
- Health and safety is a line management responsibility
- We will seek to consult and involve workers to help develop a shared and positive attitude towards safety.
- Working safely is a condition of employment.
- We will comply fully with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- All accidents are preventable.
